FAQS

Find out the answers to your most pressing questions about Gunite Pools and Elite Pools, Spas, and Hardscapes.

Why are Gunite pools so popular?

Gunite allows opportunity for extraordinary designs with endless shapes and sizes.  With Gunite you can achieve exactly the look and amenities you want in a pool:  From uniquely shaped designs to an amazing infinity edge spillover.

With a gunite, you are in control of the final outcome no matter how big the scope of your ideas. Our team will work closely with you as we develop 3D renderings, and then our professional installation crew will bring your dream pool to life.

One of the main reasons that Gunite pools are so popular is that you get exactly what you want. With other types of pools, you are limited to what is in the catalog. From simple, to loaded with features you can be assured that your pool will be designed to meet your specific needs.

How do I know if a Gunite Pool is right for me?

A Gunite Pool is a good fit if:

• Your budget is $50,000 or more
• You want a custom shape or depth
• You can’t find a fiberglass pool to suit your needs
• You’re prepared to spend a lot of time and money maintaining your investment

What are the pros and cons of Gunite Pools?

Pros:
Customization
Perhaps the greatest advantage of concrete pools is that they can be made in any shape. This means they’re especially good fits for people who want extremely deep or large pools. Custom tanning ledges and other features are available in fiberglass pools, but the fact that concrete pools can be built in any shape is a definite plus.Concrete pools are, like fiberglass models, very durable. While they may not last as long as the gelcoat surfaces boasted by fiberglass pools, concrete pools can withstand impact from sharp objects much better than vinyl liner models.

Cons:
• Maintenance required
• Water chemistry challenges
• Incompatibility with salt systems with certain finishes
• Rough surface
• Lengthy installation
• High ownership cost

What are common options for Gunite swimming pools?

Here are 8 of the most common options for a Gunite swimming pool.

Custom entry and exit stairs. At first glance stairs hardly seem like a custom option, but considering that the stairs will take up valuable swimming space, careful planning must be taken to avoid some common mistakes. For example, if you plan on doing laps, the stairs should not be placed in the center of an end wall.
• Custom Benches. What is cooler than a bench running down the entire length of your pool?
• Beach Entry. A beach entry gives you a gentle sloped entrance to your pool just like when you are at the beach. Stairs can be combined with a beach entry to accommodate smaller yards.
• Tanning Ledge. Tanning ledges are shallow water areas that are great for Ledge lounge chairs. The perfect way to enjoy a good book while the kids swim.
• Negative Edges. These can be called many different names, But the concept is the same. An area where water can cascade off the edge of the pool, giving the illusion that the pool is endless.
• Built in and Spill over Spas. Adding a Built in or Spill-Over Spa to your pool makes you look forward to those cool nights.
• Bar Stools and Swim Up Bars. What better way to party in the pool than a swim up bar. Bar Stools can be placed in any configuration or quantity.
• Salt Water Systems. Not all pool plaster can withstand the abuse that salt can deliver. At Elite Pools our Pebble Technology surface combined with chemical automation is a compatible solution for all salt chlorine generators.
